IELTS Masterclass

These Masterclasses have been developed by our team of teaching experts and are mainly intended for students, but will also be useful for both new and experienced IELTS teachers. Each Masterclass takes a detailed look at a particular part of the test, with a step by step guide on how to approach it. As well as giving useful tips on how students can do their best on test day, there are interactive activities to support students who are studying independently.

IELTS Listening Masterclass

Our 1-hour video Masterclass will provide you with a thorough grounding in this part of the test.

Our IELTS experts will talk you through the structure of the test, tell you how you’re marked and explain the types of questions to expect, followed by a detailed look at how to tackle some of the main question types. We give you tips on how to use your time before the audio starts and when it stops, and how to get better at listening in general. During the video, we’ll also give you invaluable opportunities to answer sample questions, allowing you to put our advice into practice.

IELTS Writing Task 1 Masterclass

In this 1-hour video Masterclass, we look at how to approach the questions in Task 1 of the writing paper giving you all the tips and tools you need to improve your writing score. You’ll learn the 3 key things you need to do when answering all Task 1 questions, including the less common map and process questions. We’ll take a look at the specific vocabulary and grammar you should use and go through the marking criteria in detail, so you know exactly what the examiner is looking for. Lastly, we will cover some dos and don’ts for this part of the test. We’ve included Interactive sections to let you try out our tips and advice.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Masterclass

In this 1-hour video Masterclass, we focus on Writing Task 2 – the essay.

We’ll provide you with an introduction to this part of the test, take a look at how to plan and structure an effective essay before walking you through the four parts of the marking criteria: Task Response, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Coherence and Cohesion. You will learn strategies and tips on how to maximize your score, and get opportunities to put our advice into practice by responding to a variety of real question examples from the test.
